Shenten Dargye Ling is a place of study, practice and retreat in the Yungdrung Bön tradition. Since its founding, it has welcomed all who wish to receive the teachings and engage in authentic practice, in the quiet and continuity that this path requires.
Sustaining such a place - maintaining the buildings, preserving the conditions for contemplation, welcoming retreatants safely - rests on the generosity of those who recognise its value. This generosity is not a transaction: it is a way of taking part in a work greater than ourselves.
Why this page?
The Congregation carries many ongoing projects at all times, chiefly the upkeep and renovation of the place. This page is different: it brings together smaller, clearly identified projects that anyone can choose to support directly.
The idea is simple. If one of these projects matters to you, you can give specifically towards it, and so help bring it about sooner. As soon as its goal is reached, it is - as far as possible - carried out without delay. Your gift is not diluted into a general budget: it serves exactly what you have chosen, and you see the result.
Whether your contribution is modest or substantial, one-off or regular, it matters. However concrete the project you support, you are helping to sustain the conditions for study and practice in this place: that is where the value of the gesture lies, far more than in what it funds. A robotic mower for the grounds
The grounds deserve to be well kept at all times, which is not the case today for lack of hands. A robotic mower keeps the lawns tended continuously, for a welcoming setting in every season - and frees up precious volunteer time for everything else. - Suggested by Cédric
Replace the centre's mattresses
Nights matter as much as days for anyone engaged in retreat. Many of our mattresses are worn; replacing them — more than 50 — means offering every resident real rest, and welcoming with dignity those who come from afar.
Renew the sound equipment in the gompa
In the gompa, everyone should be able to follow the teachings clearly, wherever they sit - and to relay them properly to those following from a distance. Reliable, good-quality sound equipment sees to this, session after session.
